Afternoon Slump?
Do you hit a slump around 3:00 like I do? It’s the worst! There’s still so much left in the day, but I’m sluggish and my brain is foggy. It is tempting to grab a quick sugary or carb-loaded snack, but we all know that’s not a good idea. And while this info isn’t new, maybe you just need a reminder about what kind of snack to grab so that you can make it through the rest of the afternoon full of energy!
Here’s what the experts recommend (combining nutrient-rich fruits and veggies that give quick energy with lean protein or fat for staying power):
Fruit and Cheese Plate
Choose from apples, pears, grapes, cherries, blueberries with feta, provolone, parmesan, cheddar or mozzarella.
Non-Starchy Veggies and Dip
Choose from carrots, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, bell papers with hummus, plain yogurt or guacamole.
Homemade Nut Mix – ¼ Cup
Choose a variety of nuts and seeds, and mix with golden raisins
Popcorn Mix
Mix plain popcorn with some nuts or even dry-roasted chickpeas or edamame. Add some lemon pepper, curry powder, or smoked paprika if you need some extra flavor.
