As we embark on the sacred journey of Lent, I invite you to join me on a reflective journey toward Easter.
Thank you for taking this journey with me. I pray that you will make the time to step away from life for just a moment to read these messages. I will also share a song that I hope will help you focus and reflect as well.
During these forty days, let’s prepare for a meaningful journey of remembrance and renewal. Our aim is to cleanse our heart, letting go of anything that doesn’t align with His goodness. Together, let’s embrace love for God and others, striving to see Him more clearly amidst life’s clutter.
Reflecting on Ash Wednesday’s solemn reminder of mortality, we are prompted to reconcile with God and embrace the Lenten season’s call to fasting, prayer, and repentance. It’s a time to renew our faith, preparing for the joy of Easter Sunday.
Let us recognize the need for a spiritual fast of the heart, reducing clutter to purify our souls. Let Lent serve as a mentor, guiding us through the valleys and peaks, nurturing our souls and fostering growth.
Let us reflect:
Where are we filled with pride?
How have we hurt our family? Our friends?
Where do we have excess and need decrease?
In what areas are we apathetic?
Where are we judgmental and critical?
Where do we choose hate instead of love?
Where are we discontent and feel we don’t have enough?
What do we need to change to become more Christlike?
Ultimately, Lent beckons us to remember, to strip away the distractions and refocus our gaze on the Savior. Let us wholeheartedly commit to releasing that which binds us and embracing a love, His love, that knows no bounds.
Oh Lord, guide us through this sacred season and show us exactly what you want us to see.

The photo above is a road we traveled during our journey through Alaska last summer. Much like this winding path, our Lenten pilgrimage will be marked by twists, climbs, rugged terrain, and challenging weather. Be prepared for that. Yet, despite the obstacles along the way, the trip will be worth it! Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your willing spirit. – Psalm 51:10-12
