National Fried Chicken Day

Yes, you heard that right! July 6 is National Fried Chicken Day. And we should celebrate!

Did you know that 6% of people eat fried chicken every day? (According to National Today’s survey.) Okay, maybe that’s not a good idea. But a little splurge every once is a while is surely okay!

So have you ever made fried chicken? We’ve never fried much because I don’t like the smell. But I do have my grandmother’s recipe and have successfully made it in the past. It’s a true southern fried chicken recipe from my childhood, and it’s my favorite. Maybe one day I’ll share it.

But if you’re wanting to try making some fried chicken, Taste of Home says this is the Best-Ever Fried Chicken. And Southern Living says this is the Best Fried Chicken

Or maybe you don’t want to make your own, so The Daily Meal has The 75 Best Fried Chicken Places in America. Do you agree? Have you eaten at any of these? I’ve eaten at a few of them including #1 on the list . . . Willie Mae’s in New Orleans, and I highly recommend it.

Food and Wine also has their list of The Best Fried Chicken in the U.S., many of them are repeats from the list above. And Taste of Home lists The Best Fried Chicken in Every State. So I recommend you make some notes, find some in your area to visit sometime, or bookmark this post for next time you’re traveling!

Let’s face it, though. Most of us are just gonna be looking for fried chicken at your local fast food stops. So Thrillest did a survey of the 14 Fast-Food Chicken Tenders. So check out that list. I TOTALLY agree with #1, but I’m partial. (Geaux, Raising Cane’s and Geaux LSU!)

Okay, now that you’re hungry, go splurge on some delicious fried chicken!
