Palm Sunday 2024

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, a time filled with celebration and triumph. Crowds gather, singing and dancing, waving palm branches in jubilant parades. “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the King of Israel! they proclaim.” – John 12:13

For a fleeting moment, the crowds of Jerusalem honored their King, decorating the road with palm branches. Jesus already knew about the rejection that lay ahead but he did not shy away from their expressions of love. He embraced the present moment, refusing to let the impending rejection diminish the beauty of their adoration.

The coming Holy Week is a journey of emotional highs and lows with so many contradictions. Each step toward the cross is deliberate and overflowing with His love for each of us. So as we journey through this week, may we embrace each moment with sincerity and love. Don’t let the uncertainties of tomorrow overshadow the blessings of today. Just as Jesus remained steadfast in His love may we too remain anchored in His unfailing love and grace.

Let our lives be pleasing, Lord, to Thee. And if we gain any praise, let it go to Calvary!

The photo is one I took in Jerusalem in 2012. We walked down the Mount of Olives to the Garden of Gethsemane. At the top of the photo to the right of the dome, you see the sealed Golden Gate/Eastern Gate, where Jesus entered Jerusalem on that triumphant Palm Sunday. I can just imagine the cheers and praises echoing off the wall, gates, and mountains! Hosanna!

I pray these words and messages will help you prepare your heart and soul for this Holy Week and His resurrection!! Lenten blessings to you.
